Alma Dance Theater presents “A Rebel In Venus”, created by choreographer Marissa Alma Nick; with an original musical score by Hope Littwin. The Miami native choreographers latest creation shines a light on the powerful (and often dismissed) voice of the millennial generation and their response to the current #metoo and #timesup movements. The fresh and vibrant performance enumerates dehumanizing sexual censorships in America today through the lens of sex-positive feminism and attempts to redefine the iconic goddess figure known as Venus. “A Rebel In Venus” is an extension of the pro-sex movement. It re-creates a youthful conversation (through dance) about how to view girls and women as fully human, and most importantly: agents of our own sexuality.
