Florida Chamber Orchestra and Miami-Dade County Auditorium presents “Herencia Cubana: Boleros – Ayer y hoy” on Sunday, August 30 at 5:00 pm at Miami Senior High School.
The Florida Chamber Orchestra invites audiences to the season’s closing concert, a special celebration marking the orchestra’s 30th anniversary. Continuing its tradition of honoring Cuban heritage, the program pays tribute to the golden age of the bolero with beloved classics including Dos Gardenias, Contigo en la Distancia, Lágrimas Negras, Cómo es Posible, Te Extraño, and Bésame Mucho. This nostalgic and romantic musical journey promises to transport audiences to an era of timeless elegance while bringing the season to a memorable close.
The concert also celebrates the 89th birthday of Maestro José Urbay, whose distinguished career has helped elevate Cuban popular and traditional music within the symphonic repertoire. A longtime conductor and arranger for the Florida Chamber Orchestra, Maestro Urbay is renowned for his masterful orchestrations and lifelong dedication to Cuban music. Featured guests include Spanish singer Noelia and pianist, singer-songwriter Lázaro Horta, with the concert directed and produced by Marlene Urbay, whose artistic vision continues to champion and celebrate Hispanic musical heritage.
