Arca Images and Miami-Dade County Auditorium present “La muerte de un viajante,” a celebration of 250 years of the United States featuring two great classics of American theater, directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. Performances take place Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, at 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, August 23, at 5:00 p.m.; Friday, August 28, and Saturday, August 29, at 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, August 30, at 5:00 p.m. at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center (WCAC).
En el marco de la conmemoración de los 250 años de Estados Unidos, Arca Images presenta una programación especial dedicada a dos de los dramaturgos más influyentes del teatro norteamericano: Arthur Miller y Edward Albee. La celebración comenzará con La muerte de un viajante, obra maestra de Arthur Miller, bajo la dirección del dramaturgo ganador del Premio Pulitzer Nilo Cruz. La puesta en escena contará con traducción y adaptación de Alexa Kuve, revisada por el propio Nilo Cruz, en una propuesta que busca acercar este gran clásico al público hispanohablante contemporáneo.
Considerada una de las piezas fundamentales del teatro moderno, La muerte de un viajante explora con profunda humanidad los sueños, contradicciones y fracturas del llamado “sueño americano”. Su vigencia continúa resonando con fuerza en el presente, especialmente en una ciudad como Miami, donde convergen tantas historias de familia, identidad, y pertenencia.
As part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, Arca Images presents a special program dedicated to two of the most influential playwrights in American theater: Arthur Miller and Edward Albee. The celebration will begin with Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller’s masterpiece, under the direction of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. The production will feature translation and adaptation by Alexa Kuve, revised by Nilo Cruz himself, in a proposal that seeks to bring this great classic closer to contemporary Spanish-speaking audiences.
Considered one of the fundamental pieces of modern theater, Death of a Salesman explores with profound humanity the dreams, contradictions, and fractures of the so-called “American Dream.” Its relevance continues to resonate strongly in the present, especially in a city like Miami, where so many stories of family, identity, and belonging converge.
