Florida Grand Opera presents ‘FGO GO‘ – a virtual opera experience. El Matrimonio Secreto (The Secret Marriage) highlights will launch on April 16, 2020.

Florida Grand Opera has commissioned a new translation and created a new production of one of the most successful comic operas from the late 18th century with a Miami twist performed in Spanish. Now updated and relocated to South Florida with a Cuban family in the 1980s running Hotel Paraiso on Miami Beach. The new Spanish translated production features the six characters getting into awkward cultural situations, caught in compromising positions, and drinking Cuba Libres (Rum and Coke) until a family secret uncovers.

El matrimonio secreto is the perfect opera for anyone who loves the music of Rossini (The Barber of Seville) and the comedy of Mozart (The Marriage of Figaro). Discover this charming score and become part of bochinche (gossip) when a father attempts to marry off his two daughters who already have plans for the future with a telenovela (Spanish soap opera) spin.

Please note: No late seating / No reentry / Children must be at least six years old to attend.

Food and beverage will be allowed in the lobby but not inside of the Auditorium.

The doors will open 90 minutes before show time.

Sung in Spanish with English and Spanish projected translations.

PLEASE NOTE: New procedures are being implemented in an effort to enhance the safety of our patrons and all those who visit MDCA. These new measures may include bag checks at our lobby doors. Please allow yourself a bit of extra time while planning your trip.
