DESCRIPTION:Armour Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker ballet is more than a holiday tradition with familiar music. Students from all five Armour Dance Theatre sites start preparing for The Nutcracker in August\, rehearsing weekly and learning the ropes of being in a large-scale\, full-length ballet production. \nThe cast of over 140 includes New World School of the Arts students in the more advanced roles\, along with world-class guest stars\, guaranteeing both quality and a level of diversity not seen in other local productions of The Nutcracker. Our goal is to make certain all children in the audience see performers on stage who look like them. \nOver 7\,000 public schoolchildren experience this production annually. The region’s first Sensory-Friendly Nutcracker was launched by Armour Dance Theatre (formerly known as Thomas Armour Youth Ballet.) in 2013. This year 305 & Havana International Improv Fest presents screenings and performances that deepen into the art of improvisation\, bringing together performing artists\, filmmakers and audiences across the city. \nThis year partnering venues include the Miami-Dade County Auditorium and O Cinema. In the life of a stage or creative space\, improvisation is considered an instrument for exploration and a tool for expanding creative possibilities. Open-ended investigation into the art of improvisation in different artistic expressions has become a tool that has no limits in the search for an authentic language through movement or ideas. DESCRIPTION:Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins\, District 5 and the Miami-Dade County Parks\, Recreation\, and Open Spaces Department host a free drive-thru food distribution at Miami-Dade County Auditorium every Saturday. \nSeveral South Florida community groups have joined forces to create Adopt-a-Box\, a program that raises funds to purchase local and Florida-grown fruits and vegetables directly from our farmers who need help during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The produce purchased from the farms are assembled and distributed to families and individuals in need. This program is led by Redland Ahead\, Unity Groves\, and Taste of Redland. Adopt-A-Box distributes 800 20-pound family-sized boxes to Miami-Dade County residents. \nThe event is organized on a drive-thru\, first-come first-served basis. Recipients are required to wear masks\, remain in their vehicles\, and open their trunks when it is their turn in line to receive the food. DESCRIPTION:José Luis de la Paz regresa al Miami Dade County Auditorium con un concierto en el que incluye algunas de sus últimas composiciones en un concierto a Trío\, acompañado por la magistral flautista Magela Herrera (Cuba) y el súper percusionista Adolfo Herrera (Venezuela). Además contaremos con la participación de la bailaora española Irene “La Chiqui”. \nEste concierto es resultado de encuentros con músicos de diferentes culturas en busca de nuevos sonidos que aportan nuevas texturas a la música flamenca\, sonidos que forman parte del tejido multicultural de nuestra ciudad. \nJosé Luis is acknowledged in all disciplines of flamenco as composer\, performer and virtuoso. His profound grasp of the roots of flamenco music\, combined with the desire for research and experimentation\, gives José a powerful potential to be considered one of the best guitarists of this era. Musical director for the Ballet Cristina Hoyos for ten years\, he accompanied numerous Flamenco singers and dancers. He appeared in Felix Grande’s book “Agenda Flamenca” (1995) as one of the best flamenco guitarists of his generation. In 2015 he premiered Avalon\, his first Symphonic Work for Guitar and Orchestra. From 2015-16 participated in Amor Brujo by LA Phil and G. Dudamel with artistic direction by Siudy Garrido\, and Concierto de Aranjuez (Rodrigo) with Des Moines Symphony and was nominated for the US Artist Fellowship. \nThis performance features Jose Luis de la Paz (guitar)\, Adolfo Herrera (percussion)\, Magela Herrera (flute)\, and Irene la “Chiqui de Málaga” (bailaora). \nCLICK HERE TO WATCH THE DIGITAL PERFORMANCE ON YOUTUBE\nThis performance is part of the Drive-Through Theatre Experience series. \nTickets are non-refundable.
