SUMMARY:brigid baker wholeproject's “Operation Birdsong”
DESCRIPTION:“Operation Birdsong” is the second in a trilogy of contemporary dance and visual art companion pieces for brigid baker wholeproject that will conclude in the spring of 2022. They include “Crown\,” “Operation Birdsong\,” and “Return of the Bird Tribes”. Big change this way comes. Beginning in the 1990’s and spreading throughout their kingdom until our current time\, sparrows have “changed their tune” with unprecedented rapidity. The pandemic brought quiet to the birds and enabled them to hear each other on a wider scale and vary their communication\, bringing a coming together. They sing more quietly in a lower tone\, but with more flourishes. North America has lost 3 billion birds since 1970. \n————————— \nPLEASE NOTE: Before attending\, please review our updated Health & Safety Measures for indoor performances at Miami-Dade County Auditorium. Bag checks may occur at the lobby doors before entry. Please allow yourself a bit of extra time while planning your trip.

DESCRIPTION:“Marguerite”\, or the chronicles of a woman asleep”\, is a show conceived with live music and singers who accompany the peculiar journey of a woman who\, amid hallucinations\, tells us about her life and passion: radio and radio listeners. \nWhen Marguerite is fired from the radio station where she works\, the number of followers who demand her presence multiplies while she is torn between the conscious and the unconscious after a painful breakup and her decision to “sleep” to forget. SUMMARY:"Vuelve a contármelo todo" de Abel González Melo
DESCRIPTION:ARCA Images and Miami-Dade County Auditorium present the world premiere of “Vuelve a contármelo todo” (Tell me Everything Again)\, written and directed by Abel González Melo\, starring Adrián Mas and Laura Alemán. \nA supporting actor\, tired of the routine. A young actress\, full of illusions. A basket of apples falls to the ground and they look at each other for the first time. From that moment they will no longer be separated. Nothing will stop them in their path towards the abyss of success. There will be no betrayal\, no revenge\, no crime they don’t commit to get to the cusp\, together. On the edge of the cliff\, they will be forced to reconstruct the story of which they are protagonists\, to reinvent themselves in an endless ferris wheel. A sentimental thriller with touches of black comedy. An archaic spell inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. A violent reflection\, with the theater in tow\, on the society of these times. \nThis theatrical performance is part of MDCA IRL: Summer and the Hot Theatre Summer Series. \n \n————————— \nPLEASE NOTE: Before attending\, please review our updated Health & Safety Measures for indoor performances during the MDCA IRL: Summer series. SUMMARY:35th International Hispanic Theatre Fest: Barrio Caleidoscopio
\nAlfonsito wakes up with a desire to go the store and buy a loaf of bread or two. To do so\, he must overcome his multiple eccentric fears\, appear to be like others – like “normal” people – and leave his meticulously organized\, dusty home. He must walk quickly down the lonely street\, avoiding the teasing by his “friends”\, the sadness of the street sweepers and any encounter with the Machiavellian Magalita. Above all\, he must keep the red muscle inside his chest from exploding when he receives his bag of bread. Written and directed by Carlos Gallegos. \nThis theatrical performance is part of MDCA IRL: Summer and the Hot Theatre Summer Series. \n  \n \n————————— \nPLEASE NOTE: Before attending\, please review our updated Health & Safety Measures for indoor performances during the 35th International Hispanic Theatre Festival. SUMMARY:"Bayamesa" de Abel González Melo
DESCRIPTION:Miami-Dade County Auditorium and Teatro Avante present Bayamesa\, a play written by Abel González Melo and directed by Mario Ernesto Sánchez. A theatre company comes across unpublished manuscripts of the poet María Luisa Milanés (1893-1919)\, an ardent feminist and patriot born in Bayamo\, Cuba\, and undertakes the task of creating a play based on her complicated life. In the process\, the theatre company uncovers the fascinating story of a dangerous clash with patriarchal tyranny. Bayamesa tells two stories\, one set in the early 1900 as María Luisa is turning 16\, and another in 2019\, as the theatre company prepares a show inspired by her life. \nMaría Luisa\, was fluent in English\, French and Latin\, and was a classically educated accomplished pianist and painter. She was progressive in her political and social ideas\, such as the right to vote\, but her adoring father was bound by societal conventions. A woman clearly born before her time\, María Luisa was a strong character even when society discriminated against her. She had her own voice\, but also her own anguish. María Luisa was a tragic figure who died at the age of 26 by suicide. \nPLEASE NOTE: New procedures are being implemented in an effort to enhance the safety of our patrons and all those who visit MDCA. These new measures may include bag checks at our lobby doors. Please allow yourself a bit of extra time while planning your trip.

SUMMARY:Feos by Teatro y su Doble
DESCRIPTION:Written by acclaimed Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderón and inspired by the story “La Noche de los Feos” by Mario Benedetti\, “Feos” is a visual feast of Bunraku-style puppetry. A man and a woman who have spent their whole lives alone and subjected to stares due to physical deformities have a chance encounter in line at a movie theatre. Together they go in search of the light behind the darkness\, although nothing is quite as it seems. Incorporating stop motion projections\, puppeteering of the highest caliber and a story that challenges audiences to look at their own faults with honesty and acceptance\, the production is a unique work of beauty. \nPLEASE NOTE: New procedures are being implemented in an effort to enhance the safety of our patrons and all those who visit MDCA. SUMMARY:"Cantame sobre el amor" de Conecta Miami Arts
\nPLEASE NOTE: New procedures are being implemented in an effort to enhance the safety of our patrons and all those who visit MDCA. SUMMARY:Centro Cultural Español Presents: La Golondrina by Guillem Clua
\nAmelia\, a mother in grief\, says: What really makes us human is the capacity to feel the suffering of others as our own\, that is what differentiates us from beasts. \nLa Golondrina is the latest play written by the renowned playwright Guillem Clua (Barcelona\, 1973). It is a work inspired by the Pulse nightclub terrorist attacks in Orlando\, FL. This play will have its Miami premiere directed and performed by Neher Jaqueline Briceño and Kevin Cass. \nPLEASE NOTE: New procedures are being implemented in an effort to enhance the safety of our patrons and all those who visit MDCA. These new measures may include bag checks at our lobby doors. Please allow yourself a bit of extra time while planning your trip.
