DESCRIPTION:Deseo is a full evening length work\, using Flamenco music and dance as a language to tell the iconic story of one of the most critically acclaimed plays of the 20th Century. With some of the most engaging characters in American Theatre\, Tennessee Williams’ sensuous and emotional work centers around troubled former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois\, who leaves small-town Mississippi and moves in with her sister\, Stella Kowalski\, and her husband\, Stanley\, in New Orleans. Blanche’s flirtatious Southern-belle presence causes problems for Stella and Stanley\, who already have a volatile relationship. This sets the stage for intense drama\, as each of the characters fights his or her demons and struggles to escape the world around them\, in a violent storm of frustrated dreams\, poetry\, love\, passion\, illusion and cruelty. \nThis production depicts scenes of violence and sexual content that may not be suitable for individuals 16 years of age or under. Todo esto en un marco en donde las expresiones\, el folclor\, la música y el color de la cultura mexicana\, serán los protagonistas principales para contar la historia de una de las grandes artistas de América. \nA bilingual performance about the great Mexican painter\, Frida Kahlo\, which combines music\, visual arts\, story narratives\, puppets and the audience’s participation. There are three Fridas on stage –the painter\, the singer and the storyteller- and the three will transport the young audience on a biographical journey where colors heal. The performance features puppets (hand puppets\, finger puppets and rod puppets)\, projections of the artist’s most emblematic paintings\, together with the animated illustrations of the storybook Los Colores de Frida/Frida’s Colors. While the performance is going on\, children will be able to watch the creation of an artwork on stage. The Closing Night of the XV edition of the Global Cuba Fest closes with a double bill concert featuring the fierce virtuosity and creativity of Jorge Luis Pacheco with special guest star Daymé Arocena and Carlos Averhoff Jr. with Latin jazz legends Harold López-Nussa\, Brian Lynch\, Nestor Torres\, Maggie Marquez and Ahmed Barroso premiering the new album “Together.” \nJorge Luis Pacheco\, is a virtuoso pianist\, composer\, arranger\, percussionist and singer. He won the “Audience Award” and the “Second Jury Award” at the International Jazz Piano Competition Montreux Switzerland in July 2014. In 2017 Pacheco also won the best solo and performance award in the jazz contest “Made in New York” in New York City. DESCRIPTION:Returning after being canceled in 2020 when performing arts venues were shuttered\, the Third Annual Forward Motion Physically Integrated Dance Festival & Conference showcases companies\, dancers and choreographers who are inclusive of those with and without disabilities\, exploring a new terrain of beauty\, movement and performance.
