SUMMARY:MDCA Away from Home: Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film "Soft Zone" & "Mechanical Ballet"
DESCRIPTION:Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film and Miami-Dade County Auditorium\, in collaboration with O Cinema\, presents “Soft Zone\,” directed by Carla Forte\, and “Mechanical Ballet\,” directed by Alexey Taran\, performed across two evenings on Friday\, March 20 and Saturday\, March 21 at 8:30 pm\, at Little River Performance Space.  \nEach evening features both works in a shared program\, bringing the pieces into direct and indirect dialogue. While created independently\, both works explore the body as a site of perception\, control\, vulnerability\, and resistance. Through movement\, image\, sound\, and presence\, the program offers an immersive experience reflecting on contemporary systems of power while opening space for sensitivity\, pause\, and transformation. \nMechanical Ballet is a multimedia dance work that exposes the friction between the human body and the mechanical\, digital\, industrial\, and power systems that shape contemporary life. Rooted in movement born from pure emotion\, the piece reveals how the body is progressively shaped by efficiency\, automation\, and constant productivity. The work offers a sensory and critical experience reflecting on dehumanization and alienation\, while opening space for sensitivity and presence as acts of resistance. \nSoft Zone is a multimedia performance that inhabits the threshold between body and thought\, where listening and presence create a shared\, sensitive space for transformation. \n————————— \n \nThis performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series. Programming continues to thrive during this period of renovation through the Away From Home Series. The series consists of off-site performances presented at alternative venues with community partners\, ensuring that the magic of the performing arts continues to captivate audiences throughout this transition period. The Away From Home Series presents dance\, theatre\, and music performances that take place at a variety of South Florida facilities and cultural centers.
