SUMMARY:Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants Program Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants Program is responsive on a quarterly basis to organizations/events which promote Miami-Dade County’s appeal as a tourist destination by sponsoring tourist-oriented sports events\, cultural and special events (visual and performing arts\, including theater\, concerts\, recitals\, opera\, dance\, art exhibitions\, and festivals) and television origination projects.  Applicants not meeting these criteria should consider applications to other Department programs. The TDC will provide priority attention to grant requests for activities and events that serve as major tourism generators in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year (July – September). The TDC\, a nine member volunteer advisory board established by Florida Statute\, meets as a panel to review and make funding recommendations to the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners with the idea of developing and enhancing the image of Miami-Dade County locally\, nationally and internationally. \n

Rojas’s text is a mirror of a Spain where the repressive mores of the age stifle the pure love of youth. Yet\, the characters of this masterwork endure in their timeless celebration of a jouissance that continues to provoke contemporary audiences. In the struggle between desire and flesh\, morality and money\, reality and sorcery\, this fable of the old matchmaker reminds us that these forces remain in conflict and that we continue to engage in the same battles\, even in the age of virtual reality. \nCelestina includes scenes of nudity and sexual content. SUMMARY:Verka Serduchka & Band
DESCRIPTION:Verka Serduchka is the Eurovision sensation: her iconic performance is considered by most as one of the best in the history of this contest. After decades on stage\, her live show easily gathers a hundred thousand crowds in any major city of the post-Soviet territory\, as it was in Kyiv recently. Verka made a cameo in 2015 20th Century Fox blockbuster SPY with Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law. Verka’s mixture of exploding energy\, self-irony\, and very easy-to-ingest catchy tunes can make it work. Verka is a very “crossover” on-stage persona\, like a wonderful mixture of something that is not usually mixable – Gogol Bordello meets Dame Edna Everage in one person. \nVerka Serduchka is the most adorable and demanded artist in the territory of most of Eastern European\, the Baltic\, and all the countries where people watch Eurovision. Verka Serduchka & Band’s first charity tour outside of Ukraine since the beginning of the war will also cover North America. The full band (over 20 people!) will rock Miami\, Chicago\, New York\, Toronto\, San Francisco and Los Angeles\, in April of 2023. DESCRIPTION:Cuban zarzuela Cecilia Valdés composed by Gonzalo Roig based on novel by Cirilo Villaverde. It is a work of importance for its quality\, and its revelation of the interaction of classes and races in Havana\, Cuba. The story takes place in colonial Cuba around 1830. The young and beautiful woman of mixed race\, Cecilia Valdés\, is the illegitimate daughter of powerful land magnate and slave trader\, Cándido de Gamboa. Leonardo de Gamboa is his legitimate son who falls in love with Cecilia\, not realizing that she is his own half-sister\, and they become lovers. At the same time\, a poor black musician\, José Dolores Pimienta\, is also hopelessly in love with Cecilia.
